Taos County, New Mexico
Nestled on the high slopes of Taos County, Tres Cuerdas Lodge is where the Sangre de Cristo range rises above the pines and the sky opens wide. No crowds. No rush. Just the kind of quiet that stays with you.
Accommodations
Each space is designed to frame the landscape — floor-to-ceiling windows, natural materials, and the kind of stillness you only find at altitude.
A serene retreat with panoramic mountain views, hand-finished cedar accents, and a private deck for morning coffee and evening stargazing.
Our signature suite — double-height ceilings, a stone fireplace, and walls of glass that blur the line between indoors and the wild beyond.
A standalone cabin tucked among ancient pinon pines. Rustic warmth meets thoughtful comfort — the perfect escape for a solo journey or a quiet retreat.
The Experience
Tres Cuerdas — "three ropes" — draws its name from the old Spanish tradition of binding together what matters most: the land, the light, and the silence between them.
Here, the days move differently. You wake to the sound of wind through the pines, spend hours reading by a window that frames the Sangre de Cristo range, and fall asleep beneath a sky so full of stars it feels like falling upward.
Explore trails through ancient forests and alpine meadows with our local guides.
At 8,400 feet, the sky is clearer than anywhere else. We provide telescopes and blankets.
Discover Taos Valley's thriving artist community — galleries, pottery, and more.
Seasonal breakfasts and dinners featuring ingredients from local Taos farms.
Surroundings
Twenty minutes north, the Red River Valley offers year-round recreation — skiing in winter, hiking and fishing in summer, and some of the darkest night skies in the Southwest.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in North America. Its adobe structures have stood for over a thousand years.
Home to Wheeler Peak — the highest point in New Mexico at 13,161 feet. The range surrounds Taos with glaciers, alpine lakes, and trails that reward every effort.
Since the 1890s, Taos has drawn painters, sculptors, and writers. Over 120 galleries line the streets, and the Taos Society of Artists helped define American modernism.
We drove past three other lodges before finding Tres Cuerdas. That detour was the best decision of the trip. There's a particular kind of silence up here — not empty, but full. We didn't want to leave, and we didn't.
